When Mary Magdalene visited the tomb of Jesus, she was devastated to find it empty. But after talking with the angels and Jesus himself, she finally realized the awesome thing that had happened. Jesus is risen!
When the sun goes down, we are surrounded by darkness, but we know that the sun will always rise in the morning. The rising sun is victorious over the dark night. And Jesus is victorious over death as he rises from the dead.
After the soldiers arrested Jesus, he endured a long day of torture and cruelty before he was crucified. Even as Jesus hung on the cross, people taunted him, making him wear a crown of thorns and a robe and pretending to worship to him.
The crown of thorns represents the pain and agony Jesus endured, as well as the glory and honor he deserves. The crown reminds us that Jesus suffered this pain in order to take his seat at the right hand of God.
