Ski Trip is back for 2020 and with double the fun. Solid Rock Youth Ministry and First Baptists Youth are teaming up for a MLK weekend ski retreat to Perfect North Slopes in Indiana.
FAQ:
When Will You Leave On Friday, January 17th?
We will leave at Noon on Friday, Jan. 17 from First Baptist Fellowship Hall. This means that your student will need to be checked out from school early, but can be counted as a half day.
Where Will We Drop Off Luggage For The Trip?
On Friday, Jan. 17 we will ask ALL parents/students to drop off ALL of there luggage at First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall between 6:30-7:45 AM. This way we can have the vans packed and ready to roll by Noon when students arrive.
What Meals Are Provided?
On Friday, Jan. 17 we ask that you eat before arriving at FBC or pack a snack lunch to eat before you arrive at First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. On Friday, Jan. 17 each student will turn in two $10 bills (please make sure this is exact) at check-in. These two $10 bills will count as the student’s travel meal money while on the road on the trip up and back. All other meals, while on site, are covered in cost of the trip. Student will get a $10 food card for lunch while at the ski lodge. If students would like extra food on the trip, parents can send money for their student.
Will My Student Need To Bring Extra Money?
All students will need to turn in two $10 bills before they get on the van on Friday (for travel meals) and if they wish to purchase food outside fo the $10 food card while at the ski lodge, they will need to bring extra money.
What Do I Need To Do To Register?

Non-refundable deposit of $110 is due at time of registration. We are limited to 50 registrations for this trip, so spots are first come first serve. If you have to cancel your registration for any reason, you will forfeit all deposits and payments made before cancellation and spot will be given to first person on waiting list.
When Is The Final Balance Due?
Final balance for the trip is due on December 17th. We will email you four weeks before the deadline with a reminder. You will log into your account to make final balance payments. If balance is not paid by deadline, registration for this event will be cancelled.
Will You Have A Waiting List If All Spots Are Filled?
Yes, the registration button below will link to the waiting list in which you can join at that time. We will notify you if and when a spots becomes available. You will have 24 hours in which to register for the event before we open the spot up to the next person in line.
Do I Need To Know How To Ski? *
No. We will require that all inexperienced youth take the free ski lesson before they go out on the mountain on the first day of skiing. ( * this has been updated)
Do Youth Have To Stay With An Adult While On The Mountain?
No, students will be allowed to go out in groups of three and adults will be on the mountain to make sure students are staying safe. Adults will also be at a designated place in the lodge for check-in. Students will need to check-in through out the day with adults in the lodge based on the schedule provided in the parent and student packet.
How Much Does This Trip Cost?
That matters on what your student wants to do. Below are the cost breakdown options for this trip. Please note, once you have picked a set package you cannot change that package.
No Skiing or Tubing (Base Price): $220
Skiing Two Days: $340
Tubing Two Days: $300
Skiing On Day One + Tubing On Day Two: $320
I Don’t Want To Ski Or Tube, Can I Come On The Retreat?
Yes, you will be required to stay in the lodge during the day while the group is out skiing and tubing. No one will be allowed to stay back at the hotel or leave the group.
Can I Change From Skies To Snowboarding?
Before the trip, you will need to pick which equipment (skies or snowboard) you would like to rent on which day. Once we get to the ski lodge, you can change your equipment choice only if the rental place has the equipment in stock. Any fees associated with changing your equipment choice will need to be covered by the student.
I Signed Up For Skiing Two Days, Can I Add Tubing At The Slope?
Yes. Students will need to purchase their own tubing ticket and pay for their own ticket.
I Signed Up For Skiing Day One And Tubing Day Two, Can I Switch Which Days I Ski And Which Days I Tube?
No. The ski day one and tube day two is set up by the group as you will ski on Saturday and tube on Sunday. Do to the registration as a group process, we will not be able to change the days of these two events.
Can I Bring My Own Skies?
Yes. Please note that the cost of the trip will still be the same if you bring your own equipment.
What Rental Equipment Is Covered In The Cost Of The Trip?
Ski- Boots, Poles, Skis, and Helmet
Snowboarding- Boots, Board, and Helmet
No included: Goggles, Gloves, Jacket, Bibs (see below about renting a bib)
I Don’t Have A Snow Bib, Can I Rent One?
Maybe. The lodge does rent snow bibs, but they are first come first serve. Students will need to purchase their rental bibs on their own and with their own money (cost id $10 for bibs). Best place to find bibs are at Goodwill, used online for cheap, or ask a family/neighborhood friend if you can borrow a bib for the weekend.
How Many Bags Can I Bring?
We will have limited space for luggage and winter items are bulky, some make sure to pack well. Each students will be allowed one duffle type bag (that is soft and can squish) and one draw string bag for on the van. Please do not bring a square/rectangular, hard shell suitcase on this trip.
Can I Bring My Phone?
Yes. Please note, CFMC or FBC are not responsible for lost or damaged phones. iPhones tend to not work in the cold due to the battery being too cold to work.
